Hey
You can use CloudFlare, I think it's a best and only in your options list!

You can go with CF but do keep in mind there are many ways to bypass CF and get your ip i suggest you to find a good host which can provide you good protection with L7 attacks

All you can do with shared hosting is subscribe to the CloudFlare
No any real options while you didn't have any access to the firewall configuration or webserver settings.

Re: Ddos Attack Prevention

If you dont have privileges to configure your shared hosting, you should use 3rd party service like Cloud Flare or Project SHield (Google).

They are quality service for protect you from DDOS or DOS. However you should remember that no service can prevent DDOS actually 100%. But you should try one of them.

CloudFlare can be used by anyone with a website and their own domain, regardless of your choice in platform. From start to finish, setup takes most website owners less than 5 minutes. Adding your website requires only a simple change to your domain’s DNS settings. There is no hardware or software to install or maintain and you do not need to change any of your site’s existing code. If you are ever unhappy you can turn CloudFlare off as easily as you turned it on. Our core service is free and we offer enhanced services for websites who need extra features like real time reporting or SSL.

Re: DDOS Attack Prevention

OVH has good ddos protection including layer 7. So that might be something to look into. CloudFlare is handy but for real protection it will get expensive pretty quick.

Re: DDOS Attack Prevention

Most quality DDoS protection will get you L7 protection, since most appliances nowadays have the ability built-in. We use Riorey devices and those most certainly handle them, so I know other cheaper and more expensive devices do as well.

Cloudflare will give you a good basic protection level; however, for more large and targeted attacks you will need to look at some dedicated or remote protection options. Many providers with on-site, can re-route your traffic through their services and send it back to you scrubbed, so that you can go on about your business care-free.

Either way, you will have to invest a bit more to protect yourself properly. Do you own the physical server this is hosted on, or are you using a provider and just have the shared account?

Re: DDOS Attack Prevention

You can get a dedicated IP with DDos Protection. that would take care of your issues. the better solution will be to work on the type of attacks you are getting and customize the required sheild.
