Re: Which OS do you prefer for VPS?

Linux is always best suited for VPS hosting. Because, it is most flexible and easy to understand platform.

Re: Which OS do you prefer for VPS?

Actually, it depends on the purpose of the VPS.

If its for website hosting, then Linux is good and more important, cheaper.

But you need some level of technical expertise to handle all the functions. Or you can get a cPanel or Plesk to help you in managing all that.

http://colossuscloud.com/ is offering 14 day money back guarantee. Go ahead and try it.

Re: Which OS do you prefer for VPS?

Both Redhat and Debian based OS have advanced light years from what they were a few years ago. Each is very suitable for hosting and widely supported with the most common being Centos.

Really it boils down to preference and requirements. For example if using cPanel on your server than you need Centos.

If yu have some experience and want some real speed than bleeding edge releases of Debian and Arch Linux can be quite a bit of fun to play with.

Re: Which OS do you prefer for VPS?

Starting out in my early years and even now, I would have to say Linux based CentOS would have to be my go-to. Even in our industry, our default is always CentOS latest unless another OS is requested. I just find it to be always compatible and user friendly out of most of the Linux OS' out there.
