I think Opera's latest idea to feature Google Adwords based on content off a web page being viewed is simply morally, ethically wrong! I have a half a mind to disable ALL my web pages to Opera users (well, at least until this situation changes)! What are your thoughts, if any?

Time to panic.... I can't boot into Linux Red Hat 9 since this morning. Linux doesn't boot up reporting: Kernel panic: no init found Try passing init= option to kernel I wouldn't normally care about this (as I would have just format and re-install Linux) except that this time, I did not...

I had been looking for a decent page to send others to find out about the Firebird browser and I finally found it here: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firebird/why/ If you step aside from their boasting, its an informative page: There's a quick link to the download page too. File sizes...

Got RedHat 9? (Multi-page thread  1  2)
by JdS
I got a copy of Linux RedHat 9 yesterday and I must say that I am really impressed! If I was struggling with RedHat 7.1, this installation was a breeze! The installation detected even more hardware on my PC with this version, detecting the FireWire and the Sound card as well. Even the scroll...

Is the option to reset the text size back to normal (after changes by the user) not a feature available on Mozilla FireFox 0.8? I mean, I was struggling for a while to find this out... Finally, yesterday, I guessed, and was pleasantly surprised that there is indeed a quick and easy way to...

Since the 0.7 release is imminent (scheduled for October 14th), I thought I'd point to a change list from 0.61 to 0.7 here: http://www.squarefree.com/archives/000107.html It shows new features, important bugfixes, regressions and stuff you should know. There's loads of changes and the 0.7RC...

Question
by JdS
I have just compiled and installed PHP v.4.3.2 on Apache 2 (Linux RedHat 9). I have also set up MySQL v.4.0.13. Now when I configure PHP, I used this: ./configure --with-mysql --with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs Everything worked fine but I found on PHPINFO; under MySQL: Client API...

Question
by jrobbio
I've been getting quite a few users coming into the site using the firebird browser (originally phoenix), which is affilliated with Mozilla. I was wondering if anyone had tried out this version 0.6 and whether they'd recommend it to others or not. Rob

Just after an install of Windows I usually go through the tests at https://grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 but I am beginning to think that it is for Windows users. Is there something similar for Linux users? Or are these tests platform free?

Sorry if the 'subject' was a bit misleading but I am still figuring out my Linux lingo! ;) OK, here's what I am confused about. When I loaded RH9, I installed the included PHP 4.2+ rpm package. Last weekend I downloaded the source files for the latest version of PHP i.e. 4.3+. To install this...

With my new found excitement over Firebird, there was only one thing that was really missing from a possible ultimate browser, that's right the Google Toolbar. Some developers over at mozdev.org have been beavering away and the official version 0.6 is coming out very soon. There's actually...

Okay, now that I have installed for 102nd time, I think I finally figured a few more important things about managing my Linux install. Now, for the next phase... If I want to update the kernel, what is my motivation to do it? I am using Linux RH 7.1 (2.4+ kernel). If it's security related,...

This is for all the Linux users out there... yes Garth Farley, I am talking to you. 2 questions: Should I install as WORKSTATION or SERVER? I want to run Apache, MySQL, PHP and friends and start developing my sites on the Linux platform; instead of doing them on Windows like I do now. I selected...
