How to choose good web hosting companiesThere are millions of companies on the net who advertise themselves to be the perfect web company, but only few of them are REALLY proficient web hosting companies. In the world of advertising tactics and gimmicks, few good companies get overshadowed by the rest. There is no sure shot way to determine the perfect web hosting company, is it possible to find a good company ?
thanks |

Re: How to choose good web hosting companiesNot only a few of them. There are many of them which provide decent services. I can say that the most important thing is prompt answering and helpful support. Reliablity could not be put on discussion of course. American, UK and Aussie hosts are more inovative in general so I always suggest people to choose a host located in one of those markets. This does not mean of course others are not good enough.
The other thing is to define what do you want and to search for hosts that meet your criteria. __________________

Re: How to choose good web hosting companiesHi,
Try to scan their websites, their web content, and their site layout. Compare between the hosting company websites, their features, analyze their costs read their content and then decide which is the best hosting company. Try to get the opinions of the hosting company you choose from various acquaintance, business associates, friends etc. While searching for a good hosting company, look for a clean, uncluttered and organized website. Every information should be layered in user-friendly and easy interface. Drop A Ticket: The web hosting company looks good and reasonably priced but what about their service, their response time ? If they respond fast with satisfactory solution, you have found a reliable web hosting company. If vailable , go on a free trial: The final test which will determine the reliability of the hosting company. Bandwidth problems: Some hosting companies support unlimited bandwidth, but for large amount don’t just go for unlimited, fix a bandwidth as per your need as to avoid conflict if any. Do they help you grow: Your website may be small now, but it may grow tomorrow Clarify these details how they are going to help you when you expand in future. silvermoon ![]() |

Re: How to choose good web hosting companiesAs there are many hosting companies so it has become a bit difficult to choose the right host but by doing some research we can find an affordable web hosting company. Search in google, dnsstuff or domaintools for more information on the companies you find. Refer to few web hosting directories and webhosting review sites, compare the prices and plans of various host and accordingly make a choice. And lastly, post a topic in a forum, and see what others think.

Re: How to choose good web hosting companiesHi
I personally do not advise free webhosting as you cannot be assured in their work and that the most important in their guarantee, I from many heard that during work something happened. (On it from free it is better to refuse). Have gone further You also can find the different companies in forums and look their offers and after that again by means of a forum to learn all about this or other company. Re: How to choose good web hosting companiesThe main thing I have found is pay a little more for a reputable host and do not go with these cheap, low budget companies. You simply get what you pay for in the end.

Re: How to choose good web hosting companiesQuote:
This is my experience with savvy buyers looking to host their business doing their due diligency: 1.Get a pingable IP address and benchmark the latency of the traceroute. 2.Get the DUNS # and run a check on the company. After all it's your business online that could suffer if you are dealing with a cash strapped company near insolvency. 3.By all means, ask a sample of the contract and get clear answers on how support calls are handled. 4.Make sure you understand what level of control you are getting. If hosting, you want at the very least to have root access to your servers. 5.By all means, go for a dedicated hosting package if you are planning to host a lot of traffic and mission critical applications. 6.Make sure the contract spells exit clauses if you need to exercise it. 7.Request a proposal with written SLA assurances, service escalation policies, rates. 8.Your hosting is as good as the datacenter the server sits. Make sure you know where the equipment is being parked and check peer reviews on the data center. Colocation forums are good for this. 9.If your host leases cage or rackspace on a data center, I would want to deal with a provider with a strong revenue basis. With data center rates at premium these days and rising energy costs, smaller providers are being moved out with price hikes. So anyone on a 1-2 cabinet category in a leased data center should be carefully examined before you make the leap. 10.Check the peering network. Some carriers are in better financial shape than others, even post 9/11. In some data centers, it's commom practice to do Least Cost Routing. A rotten apple fiber provider is all it takes for you to suddenly have your traffic bogged down. |

Re: How to choose good web hosting companiesGreat post Netriplex! I'm sure this is rehashing old news, but it is always a good idea to submit a ticket and see how quick they respond and how accurate their response is. It is amazing how different the hosts are in this regard, even with all the knowledge bases available to their staff.
