Google's Adsense

Hi everyone
I need to know, if there are other programs that are similar to Google's Adsense. I mean i know there a lot of programs that pay per click, but i want to know, what is the next highest pay per click program after google. Cos google pays upto 50 cents per click....any ideas

Well nothing quite comparable in the sense of targetted ads, but I've heard good things about commission junction giving fair payouts.

On the other hand, this doesn't exist as of yet, but Overture are preparing something similar to Google Adsense and these people are now owned by Yahoo so there's going to be a lot of different companies wanting their adverts appearing with them. They are playing dirty though and stating that they will refuse anyone that has Google Adsense ads on their site.

Looking for something like Google's AdSense?

At the moment, I have not seen anything even close to it but I am ALSO looking forward to some 'healthy competition' and something similar. That should boost ONLINE advertising even more... in the long term.

Where did you hear (read) that? I think it's most probably hearsay and not to be taken seriously. I would doubt very much that Yahoo! would 'react' like that!

Besides, any webmaster would tell you that it's VERY simple to show different ads on a single page independent off each other. So, technically speaking you could serve both programs (or more) on one web page / content / article without getting into trouble with either provider (since you will not be showing them together on a single page).

Your probably right, but its there choice to accept you or not. Some more info about Overture content match :
http://searchenginewatch.com/searchd...le.php/2230221
http://www.content.overture.com/d/USm/ac/ba/cm.jhtml

You have to be a pretty huge search site to get Overture content match listings though.

More contextual ad programs coming soon.. I expect!

My! It seems like everyone and his uncle is getting in on this Contextual Ad thingy.
  • MSN has those text ads on their SERPs (overture).
  • Having followed a link off NetWay's thread I caught a glimpse of something similar on Lycos' SERPs
  • Yahoo, has... well they have some small, yellowish thingy that appears, once in a while

Another 'AdSense' in the making?
A couple of days ago, I was reading up on this website: AdSonar which does seem interesting - if only I can get to their search engine: www.flipper.com?

JDS what is really funny is Overture are tearing their hair out because of some business practice they did earlier this year. They sold a company to Google called Applied Semantics, which basically held the key to contextual advertising although Overture probably didn't realise it at the time or didn't have the infrastructure. Yahoo owns Overture so we can only guess what is going to happen next.

Let us know if you find out any more about adsonar. I couldn't get to flipper.com either it just rerouted me to quigo.

There's nothing that even comes close to comparing to google's adsense. Just like there's nothing even close to adwords, or it's search engine... When it comes to the internet... Google Is God!

Any notable/controversial changes to the TOS? I was in a rush earlier, so I didn't bother reading it thoroughly....

In brief:

- publishers still cannot encourage visitors to click on ads, byt they can be now be referred to as "sponsored links" or "advertisements."

- Ads shall not be placed on personal pages or chat sites without Google's prior written consent.

- Sites may not include: "Deceptive or manipulative content or construction to improve your site's search engine ranking, e.g., your site's PageRank".

- You can't sell your Adsense account when you sell a website.

- I think they now allow ads to be placed on search results.

- Something about placeing 'multiple ad units' on a page...I still think that you can only have one Adsense ad per page though.

That's the skinny...not guaranteed to be correct so check the Adsense site for more details.
