RAM problem

As many have said, I know enough to get myself in trouble.
I have Abit NF7-s Motherboard and AMD 2700. I am using one stick of DDR 512Mb RAM in the third slot as recommended. I bought another stick of the very same and added to the motherboard. When i fire up the machine, the computer then the monitor, the monitor light goes from green (on) to yellow (standby), i assume the computer is just relaying that it is not coming up and the monitor responds in kind although i have the on light up for the comnputer. I take out the stick, rearrange, use one then the other and all works fine but when i add both, nothing!
Hope I've given enough info. I was referrred here by another satisfied user

Now I'm afraid I know the answer to this one, but your probably not going to like it.

I presume you have something like a 300/350 W power supply within your computer and I'm afraid it just isn't enough. I actually have a similar problem with mine that I cannot use a certain quieter fan since it consumes too much energy and you get what is called a brown out.

Basically, you don't have a lot of choice with such a powerful CPU as an AMD 2700 and 1 gig of ram as well as a hefty graphics card (probably), you are going to have to get a higher wattage power supply. You are probably looking at least 400 W, which is going to set you back around $100 at a guess.

Hope this helps.
