Urgent request for help - laptop monitor displays blue green red and nothing elseHi,
I would be extremely grateful for any help; I have a dell inspiron 8600 running Windows XP which I use for my business - I'm self-employed and in trouble; I have tested the laptop with an external monitor and it works fine. On start up however the LCD goes green, red, blue, white, black in rotation and shows nothing else. Is my LCD shot ? If so is a replacement viable i.e. cost-effective ? If there is a fix for this which I can do myself please help as I'm under severe pressure with work and need this thing working properly asap, or I will have to purchase a new one within the next day or so. Many thanks. |

Re: Urgent request for help - laptop monitor displays blue green red and nothing elseI don't think it's the monitor per se, at least not like trouble-shooting a desktop monitor. It sounds like it might be a problem w/ either the video chip or the cable from the chip to the screen.
Since it's a laptop, you'll probably have to contact Dell's tech support about it. It's possible to tear apart a laptop but only if you don't mind potentially breaking it or you know exactly what you're doing. __________________
