Could not perform disc-at-once, power calibration error, TOC issues

Hello everyone,

I've come across a slight pickle on my Medion desktop PC. I'm using a Pioneer DVR-107D CD/DVD drive. It seems every time I try to burn a dvd, I get all kinds of error messages
- Could not perform disc-at-once
- Power calibration error
- Some kind of error involving "TOC" ...

Since I have been looking around, this is what I've done up untill now:
- Upgraded Nero 6 to the latest official version of Nero 6 (no dice)
- Uninstalled Nero 6, installed Nero 7 (no dice)
- Cleaned lens using a CD/DVD lens cleaning CD with little brushes (no dice)
- Ran "services.msc", disabled IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service (no dice)
- Tried different kind of DVD, Imation DVD+R instead of Sony DVD+R (no dice)
- Tried CloneCD instead of Nero software (no dice)
- Uninstalled the problematic CD drive and reinstalled it (no dice)
- Upgraded the firmware of my CD drive (no dice)
- now I'm starting to worry ...

Here you have the error report of the debacle:

Any suggestions would be appreciated. If there in fact is something wrong with the hardware, I have to turn in my entire computer, as Medion does not take back single parts. (although, that's what customer service told me last time).

Re: Could not perform disc-at-once, power calibration error, TOC issues

Since I don't believe my drive is thoroughly cleaned with the CD/DVD lens cleaning CD I used, I will buy an air cleaning spraycan and give the drive a good seeing to, cleaningwise. I will post my findings afterwards.

If anyone has any ideas, they're welcome.

Extensively cleaning the drive did not produce a positive result.
I still get the same errors. I will contact Medion.

Thanks for the massive support by the way! It's very nice to know that when you put a lot of effort in explaining something, people completely ignore you, but still reap the benefits of all your findings.

Nobody is ignoring you. We read and when we have nothing useful to add to the thread, we just leave it alone.

If there are people searching for the same information, they will eventually find this thread and more information is added. This is how forums should work. We are all sharing information freely.

Wouldn't it please you to find that this thread is still attracting feedback many years later? Just look at how long this thread has been up and the sheer number of people it attracted and probably helped. 3 years on and it still attracts replies!

Now you have forced me to add an unrelated and useless post to this thread...

I suppose you're right. I apologize. Although I agree that it's best to serve the whole community and not just myself, no doubt you can understand my reaction too. Since I appreciate your reaction, the latest developments:

I called Medion as I said. My computer will be sent by Taxi Post (some kind of postal service in Belgium) to a service centre of Medion in Belgium. They have already reserved a new CD/DVD-drive for me, and they are waiting for my computer. They say I'll have my computer back in 2 to 3 weeks. So if that's true, the customer service of Medion isn't all that bad.

I'll keep you posted on how long it actually will take and what the solution was, then any Medion users are helped too.
