cd burner problems

I currently am having problems using my cd burner. Its a Polaroid BurnMAX32 ATAPI CD-R/RW 32X10. The light comes on when i insert a disc or open and close the tray. But when I put in a disc in, it says that there isn't one in there, like the tray is empty, I think it can't recognize that there is a disc in there. I tried re-installing the drivers for it and that diddn't work. I'm using Nero burning software.

Hi ringmaster, Ok to start are those drivers the latest drivers? Tell me a little about your system and the burner. Is the burner new or older? I'll try and help you out but these problems are sometimes hard to solve online.

Hey, Yes I believe they are because i try to update the drivers and it says that there are no current updates for the specified drivers. I had a gateway amd athlon processor at 900mhz. 448 ram. The burner is about 6 months old and wasent used heavy, only occasionally and when it was used it worked perfectly.I will double check on the drivers though. Thanks for you help its much appreciated. btw if its too difficult to explain its fine u dont need to.

No its not that, its just that sometimes these type of problems aren't so easy to fix when your not there. But it doesn't stop me from trying. what windows do you have? And have you try looking on Polaroid web site to see if there is any one else with the same problem. I'll do a search on the net and see if I can come up with some thing.

I know this sound funny a little but try uninstalling the drive and the burner and then when you go to reinstall the drive use the windows drivers I have a Philips and I'm running Windows XP Pro and I have found that after I reinstall windows that windows has driver for my burner and I have to admit that these driver are actually better than Philips drivers. So you may want to try this and see if it works.

Solution to BurnMax32 Issue

Open your tower and unplug the drive. Then, plug it back in and the computer will recognise it. Have fun! - Moses

Re: cd burner problems

Okay I got the same type of problem with the same CD-Burner and i've tried all the already posted fixes, like reinstalling drivers and unplugging and re plugging back in the cd burner nothing is working its still not seeing a cd, what do you think the problem could be, i mean i dont think the CD burner is bad, but it could be... i've had this problem before and unplugging the burner then booting up the pc, with no burner, then turning it off plugging it back in and booting it up with the burner plugged back in worked, but it didnt work this time, so im open to any suggestions, go ahead and reply or shot me an email to pstilez@gmail.com or dshardelman@msn.com, or send a reply to both, just help me phuk*n fix this thing. . . .
