Question

AVG AntiVirus or AntiVir Personal?

I personally use NOD32, but I was wondering, which is teh better anti-virus solution out of the two mentioned above?

I've used AVG Free and it seems to work really well and is user friendly for peeps that aren't extremely PC Savvy.
As long as you're not using a VIRUS like Norton you should be good to go.

I hate Norton/McAfee as they are big resource hogs.

Among free anti-virus software, AVG is very good.

If you are willing to purchase an anti-virus software, I would recommend Kaspersky:

AVG AntiVirus (free edition) is what I use too. So far, it has done it's job and done it well. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone. In the past I have used pccillin and norton.

Unless I have a lot of programmes running at the same time, I don't even notice when it's doing it's scheduled, daily scan of the PC!

Re: AVG AntiVirus or AntiVir Personal?

Talking of AV packages, I'd like to share an incident.

I have an .exe file that norton 2006 detected as a virus (on my friend's computer); out of panic I downloaded all the possible AV's did a full system scan with all of them, submitted the suspected file for a scan online... but it came out as clean in ALL of them.

Now, what do you all make of this.... does this authenticate Norton's capabilities in detecting viruses which other packages cannot?

netnut.

What if the exe was actually clean and norton made a false alarm?

Regarding the topic, i use AVG. It does not consume too much memory as Norton does, and i am pretty satisfied with AVG.

Why does it need to do that?
