Simple FixHey fellas.......real simple fix...just update your ASPI drivers
The current version is 4.71.2.....last time I looked. I have been using Nero for 3 years and have not made a coaster yet!! I use only Verbaitum disc cdr and dvd. Dont waste your money on a lens cleaner.......why would you want to chance scratching that fragile lens. Dont put a dirty disc in and the lens will not get dirty!! aspi.radified.com Check it out!! |

Disk TypeI've had the problem with power calibration. I have a a Memorex Tri Maxx 200. I only started getting burn problems when I bought some new TDK disks intended for burning 52x. I can still erase and re-burn old CD-RWs (4x) but I can't get hold of these in the shops. I'll try different manufacturers (Memorex Verbatim) and see if they'll work.

greetings everyone, i seem to be experiencing the same problem of power calibration error.
i am using plextor s88tu cd writer imation cd-r 700MB nero 5.5 all firmware and software updated and computer rebooted trying to back up all my files but alot of times when i tried to burn a cd, it tells me errors like Fixation errors then when i scrolled up for some, it tells me Power Calibration error . I've tried many times with the same disc but when i tried with more discs from the stack of blank cd-r it still couldnt work.i only managed to burn data 4 times during which i tried repeatedly using ard 10+ cd-r discs. some tries failed immediately, showing the errors mentioned abv yet some failed at the last minute, at 99% written. this is what my error log tells me >>>> 1502-1000-0148-0505-1116-8774 Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\ahead\Nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.59, size=160016 bytes, created 29/01/2003 09:37:36 PM Nero Version: 5.5.10.56 Recorder: <PLEXTOR CD-R PX-S88T> Version: 1.06 - HA 2 TA 0 - 5.5.10.56 Adapter driver: <> HA 2 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ? IMHO:
Disable IMAPI > Get an ASPI layer > Trash Nero > Get BlindWrite > Get BlindWrite to burn the thing and go do sth else > Check back a few hours later, the thing should have burnt properly. HTH, w00717 |

Got Message, Used Compressed Air to FixI got this message today for the first time. Have had my trusty TDK 4X burnitall DVD burner for many months and am using Nero 6 and Sony DVD Architect. I had the problem when using Architect and also with Nero 6. Looked up the error and found myself here. I blasted my drive with compressed air and now it works! Cheap and easy solution! THANKS FOR THE HELP!!

Error = FrustrationHey all,
First time post on this form. This is what I have found out after battling the mighty "Calibration Error" after researching time after time to overcome this issue. I'm currently using NEC's ND 2500A DVD+/- RW and recently experienced this god forsaken error. My Burner was aprox 6-months old when this came about. I have no issues burning CD's with this burner what so-ever but attempting to burn DVD's is when this error pops up. So far I have completed the following: Fresh "Clean" OS reinstall (XP PRO SP2) NERO 6.0 & updates (Did Not Solve) Updated firmware (ver over ver ) to 1.06 and 1.07 (Neither solved the issue) Turned off Windows internal burning service (Did Not Solve the issue) Used different media - Maxell, TDK, Memorex, Fuji, Sony (Unsolved) Cleaned the lens (even though new drive) (Unsolved) Throttled down the burning speed (2X) (Solved!) Ok, by throttling down the burn speed did solve my issue but this is unacceptable, I have purchased an 8X DVD burner and I wouldn’t mid throttling it down to 4x with 4x media but 2x?? No this resolution doesn’t work 100% but prox 90% of my DVD burns are successful. I also found information regarding this so for you NEC ND-2500A users this might help you. club.cdfreaks.com Good luck and see you soon on the "Battle Fields" :-o |

UpdateOk, here is what's going on with my issue.
After scratching my head on the 10% failure, I have found out whats going on. What i'm attempting to do is back up my DVD's beacause I dont trust my kid with the originals for damage prevention I dont mind handing her a "copied" version. Why the other 10% is not working is because they are the most recent and using the latest "copy protection" that would allow me to "ripp" them to the hard drive but will not allow transfering to a "Blank" DVD. I will not go into detail but thats the basic issue in a nutshell. |

I too am suffering from the Power Calibration Error.
I have tried many different methods, and none seem to work. I read all the methods in here, and some seem confusing and there is just too much. 1) I have used different CD brands, such as SONY etc and they all fail. 2) I have cleaned it with a lens cleaner and I have blown in it. 3) I have used other software besides Nero, but it still fails. I think there are other methods to try, but I don't know what is best. In this topic people are like "It's the media, not the hardware", "It's the hardware, not the software" and "It's the software, not the media". Quite confusing. The topic that links to the possible solution fails to work for me, due to the fact I can't follow the instructions in the first place as I have Windows 98. My burner is old, but it got the job done over the years and I am happy with it. ACER 4x4x32. I really need help, as right now I can't really get a new burner, and I believe there is another solution besides that. Thanks. P.S: This Power Calibration Error seems to be the cancer of CD/DVD burning, with no real solution on the debatable problem. |

Same Issue with home movies nowQuote:
Seems its not what I thought it was, Now i'm getting the same issue with a home made movie. I was able to get the movie burned but with a trial version of Alcohol 120%.. Seems it has something to do with Nero... Once i got passed the calibration error, I now get a error "Could Not Perform End Of Disc-At-Once Error" with Nero! ![]() |

I, too, am getting the "power calibration" error, in Windows Media Player AND Nero!Here is my log...
Quote:
It was working fine before, and all I've used are Fujifilm blanks. So today I tried Sony, and it's still giving me the same error. Also, when I set the speedto 20x (or any speed, for that matter), it automatically changes to 4x. I also can't burn cd's using Windows Media Player. Could it need cleaning??? My burner is just over 1 year old. This is VERY aggravating. |
