Result identifiersI am having a similar problem to Andy - Sessions in fact with some similar code. I want to be able to display a welcome note personalised to the logged on user as well as creating some custom content.
Can I name the result identifier i.e. $result anything I choose ie. $result1. The reason I would like to be able to do this is that I have two tables in a db one which contains information about a userid with email and passwords. The other contains data about that user I.e. name, address, phoen number. I want to display; Hello Phil rather than Hello 0125 that I would if I used the $valid_user approach detailed in Andy's message. I have tried to achieve this through using a mysql_query, hence the question re: result id Any help would be much appreciated!!! Phil |

Welcome to the club that is GIDForums Phil,
I'm glad that you resolved your problem. If we all help each other out to our strengths, then we'll go places Did you get the answer from another thread or was it something that you had noticed from what you had done. Rob |

Hey Rob
I did lots of searching which led me to teh conclusion that $result is just a variable and can be defined as such. This helped me to fix the problem. I am still getting grief from " and ' and where to use each. Given that I am still v. wet behind the ears in this whole programming thing I will just try to learn from these little mistakes!! Cheers for the welcome and interest!! Phil |

Hello ukrspp21,
Hang around some PHP/MySQL forums daily; even for just a few minutes at each. You'll pick up a lot of tips, tricks and just plain 'ol things to think about. I still do this, I hardly post on the many forums I frequent (I make an exception here of course __________________
