trouble uploading jpeg & png files via FTP

Hello,

I am currently uploading a website but i am having a little trouble, I have tried filezilla and FTP surfer to no avail, the problem is jpeg and png files, web pages load up just fine but these other files wont, some transfer start but seem to freeze and then time out and the FTP software re-trys until the maximum of trys has been exhausted.

Any ideas why?

Thanks

Mike

Is it possible that your web host has image restrictions on your account?

You should email and find out, your web host may not allow you to host images due to bandwidth consumption.

Hi,

thanks for your reply, to answer your questions, I have unlimited bandwith and 150mb web space included in my package, I actually managed to upload 1 image file earlier but I can get anymore on, I keep getting the same problems.

Any more ideas?

Mike

Try with another FTP software. If you still cannot consistently upload report it to the webmaster. It may be a problem with the server. Also make sure you are uploading images in BINARY mode. If your FTP client has an AUTO feature it should automatically select BINARY for image transfer.

I had this problem with the WS_FTP32 Pro software that I was using to do all of my FTPing at the time. It was such a pain. I think they fixed that on their latest version though... but know I use Dreamweaver anyway.
