Ever since I moved the sites to the dedicated server, I can't seem to do anything else except monitor and manage the server. Review this, review that, read this, research that, tweak, test, install and tweak some more

Even as recent as yesterday, I set the forum thread views to update only once every hour to ease the HIGH mysql (database) & server loads.

I think I have done everything I can to optimise the server and it is time to consider getting a more powerful machine. If my existing advertisers extend their campaign before the end of the month, I will move the sites to the new server.

Like you said Div, it's a good problem to have. Unfortunately, I could not get the answers back from the long term advertisers in time to order the server at the beginning of this month (March 2006).

One said, "the cheque is in the mail", the other finally replied today with a firm "Yes, we will continue our ad campaign with you". This is very good news for us as this means I can definitely move the sites on to a more powerful machine on or just before April 1st.

Meanwhile, I apologise for the "Sorry, the server is busy" announcement that you will see occasionally during peak periods for the next 27 days or so.

We can have more work and projects here if the server is replaced. I had problems with the server when I only connect thru ISP at 28.8 kbps ( Province ), so I can only check GID everytime I had adsl at hand. c",)

A CVS server too please. lol.

Just an update: I called my web host over the weekend and as soon as I follow up the telephone conversation with an email, he will try to have the new server set up within a week.

Having the server set up and (me) moving the sites over to it are 2 different things!

Having the server a few days before April 1st will allow me to run some tests that I was afraid to run before.

I am aware that the site has been crashing over the last couple of days... again, I apologise for the inconvenience.

I haven't noticed any problems, though I usually only log on once a day or so.
