I look at the Alexa rankings from time to time even though I don't ever use the toolbar, even though its installed on my IE.

Anyway, there's a new addition to the information on the site, which rates the speed of the server in some way and desilva.biz came out as rating "Very fast - 1th percentile" . Go to http://www.alexa.com/data/details?url=desilva.biz to see it.

Yahoo got an "average - 55th percentile"
Google got a "very slow - 84th percentile"

Maybe those things that Jay did to the DNS paid off in the end.

This is exciting news... but I couldn't find anything that even resembled a speed test thingy on that page

There must be something in the toolbar that tests how long a page of certain size takes to load. Maybe with the combination of gzip, a fast server and a reworked DNS had something to do with it.

I'm not sure though, because I had an unknown for my site and I block the Alexa crawler, or maybe its because I haven't had enough results yet to be relevant.

If it's any consolation, gtopsites is also listed as 'unknown' and I haven't blocked any robot or bot.

Perhaps they just do this for sites reachig a certain level of traffic?

I just checked it again today and right now the page is saying that www.desilva.biz is:

Speed: Very Slow (1th percentile)

You think that's a bug or has the site really slowed down?

If only any of my many websites had that kind of speed, the fastest website I have is only 41st Percentile or what ever, or at least it was when I checked it out on alexa like a few weeks ago.
