Question

Borland compile question

Hello everybody,

I'm new at this forum. I started yesterday learning c++. I read the online book "Learn c++ in 21 days". As compiler I use Borland C++ Builder 6. I'am not very new in the programming world, I think I can code php very good.

Oke, well now my question:
I've made a simple program and I can run it in Borland. But now I want to compile the file and save it as a .exe file. How do I do that?

I hope someone would help me with this simple beginners question.

Thanks in advance,

Monnick

ps. I'm a 15 year old boy from the Netherlands so my English is not very good

In the subforum is a thread that may be helpful for your Borland Questions. Take a look and see if it helps you out.

You think you're English is bad, you should hear my Dutch.
Good Luck. If you have any more questions about the Borland info, feel free to ask.

Actually, that thread will be no help at all. It's about installing the command line compiler 5.5 and monnick is running Borland's equivalent to MSVC or DevC GUI I believe. Unfortunately, I've never run BCB6 so I can't answer this directly either.

Looking at the help files, I see this:
Quote:
Use the Directories/Conditionals page of the Project Options dialog box to specify the location of files needed to compile, link, and distribute your program. In addition, you can specify compiler defines on this page. Click the down arrow next to any edit box to choose from a list of previously entered directories or symbols.
then:
Quote:
Final output .Specifies where your final target (.EXE, .BPL, or .DLL) is placed.
> Default = no default. If not specified, the target is placed in the same directory as the project file (.BPR).
So look in the directory your .BPR (Borland PRoject file is in). This was in the BCB5.HLP file.

Did you try FIND FILE (F3 or START:SEARCH)? Start at the root and search for the project name or source file name with a .EXE extension.
