Problems with my first pc build

Hi, I have very little knowledge about pcs and im beginging to think it was a bad idea doing this myself anyway here is my specs.

The board is Abit AL8 3rd Eye 2, the GFX card is x850XT PCIe, the case is antec sonata2 and the hard drive is Western Digital 200gb sata.

The problem is, I think everything is connected and im not getting the display coming up and im getting bleeps, 1 long then 3 shorter.
All fans spinning (including the GPUfan), all leds on from what i can tell BUT the mouse and keyboard are not lighting up. (they do on another pc)
Why would these peripherials ie mouse and keyboard not be working?
Clearly my concern is why the monitor is not working but please if you can answer why the mouse and keyboard are not working

Thanks

Re: Problems with my first pc build

The beeps probably mean the video card isn't recognized by the system. (Double check by looking at the motherboard manual; it should have an error code table). Make sure it's completely pushed into the mobo and has enough air flow that it wouldn't shut down.

What type of mouse/keyboard are you using? If they're USB, then you need to make sure your BIOS is set to allow on-boot USB so you can use them.

I will try to find out if the bios will allow on boot USB (i have USB keyboard + mouse) but I can't seem to find anything about the f***ing bios I can find the beep codes on the enet but im not even sure if they are for my bios. Check this from abit forums:

AWARD BIOS Beep Codes
1 Long, then 3 Short Beeps: Video error

Explanation: The BIOS is unable to access the video system in order to write any error messages to the screen.

Diagnosis: This is usually caused by a problem with the video card, or the memory on the video card. It can also be a motherboard issue.

Recommendation:

* Troubleshoot the video card.
* If the video card is not at fault, troubleshoot the motherboard. THEN........

(another link)
Basic Beep Codes for ABIT AWARD BIOS Motherboards

8.) 1 long - 3 short(Beep) Keyboard Error

SO which is right!

Considering the problem (and the fact that I haven't had to do anything with AT beep codes in probably 15 years), I'd say that your video card/subsystem is the culprit. Does your motherboard have on-board video? If so, perhaps try starting without your add-on video card? If not, take a very good look at the card edge connector and socket. Sometimes a very small piece of debris such as a small metal shaving from a case screw will get into a socket and cause all kinds of weirdness. It is possible that the video card is bad, perhaps try it in a different PC is that is an option for you? At least carefully inspect it and, if possible, use a can of compressed air to blow any potential particles out of it and ensure that the card is properly seated and secured then try again.

Sometimes just getting the whole thing out and up on a table/workbench and into good light will help you find a problem.

Take Care.

Rob!

Has the mother board enabled to detect and operate with the video card. You can change this in the bios. perhaps you still have the mother detcting the integrated.
