SuperbowlWell, it is that time of year again. That long wait between the Championship games and the Superbowl. I have said it before, and I will say it again, I hate the bye week!
Anyhow, this year I am pretty interested in the championship game, as the greatest team of all time made it. In case some of you can't tell by my avatar, I am a huge Steelers fan. I have been ever since I was a kid. I have never lived in Pittsburgh or even close, but as an impressionable kid growing up in the 70's, I saw a dominant team in black and gold in the superbowl every year kicking the tar out of the competition. Even though my father rooted for the Dallas Cowboys, I couldn't help but think that the Steelers were the meanest thing that had ever existed. How interested is everyone else in the superbowl? Any Seahawks fans out there (besides CableGuy - hehe)? I am really interested to see what the international response is. This thing is unbelievably big state-side, but I can't imagine that there is much interest globally. __________________

Re: SuperbowlSteelers, we don't need no steeekin' Steelers.
Alright, even though I live in Pennsylvania I will have to take the Seahawks and let that crazy Steeler Fan DSmith have his day. He's one of the few I know that has been saying Steeler's in the Super Bowl all along. But... Can the defense come to play? Personally, I think that will be the tell tale. They looked so good in their last two (especially against the Colts) games that another performance like that will put the outcome squarely in the hands of the Pittsburg Offense. Seriously, if those guys are drinking glasses of Troy Palomalu(???) sweat than so be it. They had controlled intensity that most surely carried them from a lowly Wild Card to here. I have been seriously impressed by them. Yet, I still think the Seahawks will come through. Being a Bill's Fan (and AFC guy) I really hope the Steelers will bring home the prize though. Hey, weren't we going to do something about this week off garbage last year? Not a single one of us was able to get on the Super Bowl Steering Committee? I'll just have to save all those "We're #3, in your Face!!!" t-shirts for next year. Mark __________________

Re: SuperbowlDefense! Let me tell you about defense young man.
As good as Polamalu has been, it is a marked improvement in the rest of the secondary that has really helped the defense in the past two games. Let me introduce you to Mr. Ike Taylor - 3rd year player who is turning into a shutdown corner. Never heard of him? That is because people aren't making plays on him. The key is that the rest of the secondary is playing their positions and allowing Troy to be the playmaker that he is. Seattle has an outstanding offense coupled with an experienced, smart coach who is going to have 2-weeks to prepare. They are very dangerous. However, this Steeler team has made a believer out of me. We've played well against the top tier offenses in the playoffs and come out of those games fairly well. Should be a great game and a hell of a chess match. Both of these teams have talent, but I believe it is schemes that have put them in the positions that they are in. __________________

Re: Superbowlseahawks had the game taken away from them.
I can't think of any calls that went against the Steelers . . . except the calls at the beginning of the game for a couple false starts. Every time the Seahawks had a game-breaking play (except for the interception) the refs called it back. They took away a touchdown early on - they called offensive pass interference. Bull. That was a touchdown - plain and simple. Later they called back a big first down play that would have put the Seahawks in field goal range. Then they called back a big kickoff return. Then they called back a game-changing play where Jerramy Stevens caught the ball on the two - from there the Seahawks would have been poised to take the lead. Then they called a crap personal foul on Hasselbeck when he was trying to tackle the guy who intercepted him. Earlier on in the game they didn't call a fumble they should have called . . . when a Seahawk fumbled it out of bounds. It was a clear catch and then the ball went out of bounds. It would have been a huge gain for the 'hawks. All in all, I've never seen such an awfully one-sided game. The 'hawks outplayed the Steelers and should have won the game. But you can't win a game the refs are determined that you're going to lose. Eric aaa-adspecialties.com |
