Silver...again! Sorry :(

Man, am I sorry to start a new thread about this when there are so many around. I've read them all ... and it seems that I can't be helped. Witness my tale:

I'm running Windows XP. I want to play Silver. I bought a used Windows 95 version, thinking that, hey, XP has a 95 emulator, no? So I install my favourite game, and all goes well ... until I want to play it and I get the error "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into the drive."

But there is! There is! Am I being a complete twat? Does this mean my CD drive is screwed? Or is there some hidden secret I don't know about? Please help ... Is there hope?

Many thanks in advance,

Da Cake

PS I've tried running it on DosBox (long shot, I know). And quite rightly, it told me right off, saying "This is a Windows 95 exec."

I tried all the compatibility modes. I get a funky message saying "Unable to load function: FT_Thunk (Kernel32.dll)". What the??? (Unfortunately, I know bugger all about comps.)

I downloaded the Silver XP patch from www.crazymoocow.net. I replaced the exe. I now get a black screen. If I then open Task Manager, I get an error message saying "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." Apparently, it's something called Document View.msi and I can browse for it. What the heck is that? What am I doing wrong??? Please help a hapless user...

Have you tried http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtualpc/default.mspx yet? I use it work pretty good.
