modem not working

I tried to connect to AOL I have windows 98 se and my computer has an internal modem and it won't work what should I try short from replacing it

Have you ever been able to connect? Are you sure the modem is working? Does it show up in Device Manager?

You might want to try setting a connection up with the modem to dial your cel phone or something to see if its working
