Help with upgrading DDRAM

I have a 256MB 266mhz DDR PC2100 DIMM RAM.
I'm thinking about buying a 512MB PC3200 DDRAM.
Will both of these work together?
I mean, If i put both together in my motherboard, will both of these
ram be detected or just one of them due to some reason. If you have a reason, what is it. Thanks very much.

Re: Help with upgrading DDRAM

Running with two different memory speeds can upset your system. Possible issues include not booting, BSOD's, random "glitches" and shutdowns, etc. Theoretically some systems can accommodate different speeds (by throttling down the speed of the faster one to match the slower one) but it's safest to use the same speed.
