Re: Creative Fatal1ty Xfi and 60 minutes interview

Well, first off he didn't make it. All he did is get paid by Creative to use his name for the card. The motherboard that has his name on it is the same way, except I think he requested a few parts that were non-standard at the time. He may have made a few requests w/ Creative for the sound card but nothing that wouldn't show up in 6 months anyway.

I glanced through the info at Creative and yes, it sounds impressive. (Ha, "sounds". What a pun! ) But realistically will you notice the difference between it and last year's Audigy? Probably not.

For gaming, you won't get any benefits until the games incorporate all the gee-whiz features, so maybe by the end of the year or next year. The "soundscape" features like the equalizer and various modulators might be neat if you DJ or create audio files but generally just take up space.

Personally, I'd get a cheaper model. I can't see anything that makes it a "must have" option, unless you get a real good deal. Computer sound cards already sound great, even the integrated sound chips on mobos, so spending $$$ on one just doesn't make sense unless there's a special feature you need. If you wait 8-12 months, you can get it for cheaper and there'll probably be more software that supports it.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for not giving me some stupid :It sucks " with no supporting statements. Money isnt a thing for me, and although Fatal1ty is prtnered with these companies and not sponsored, the card has gotten great reviews and seems worth it for a high end computer for gaming. The 60mminutes show was good, I thin I'm sold. Thanks
