What is your browser's homepage?I see more and more websites with "Make this page your HOMEPAGE" links and it got me wondering, what do other people actually set as their "homepage" (you know, the page that you go to, as soon as you start your browser?).
Mine is not even a page off my website - but I'll be adding an article on that weird story soon; watch out for it. Still, I am interested to know what some others set it to? Last edited by admin : 02-Feb-2005 at 21:44.

well mine changed regularly.... until it finally landed on "about:blank" ... where it now stands firm
I have had it on my site, but that affects statistics and wastes bandwidth. Then i had it on Google, but i got bored; then i had it on some of the forums i frequent, but that got boring too. I finally decided to set it to nothin, which means the browser loads fast, and i can go to whereever i want as fast as possible. BTW, i dont think anyone uses that 'set as homepage' thing, unless the site is a search engine, or news website, or something similar. |

I know... that's why sometimes I shake my head in disbelief when I come across a website which has that right at the top (and most LIKELY in bold as well).Well, what I have as my browser homepage may interest you then (definitely better then "about:blank")... It's a little bit of work at first but very USEFUL, I think. I will post a sample page soon (in a few days) so, you'll know what I mean. |

Interesting question....some of my favorites have been:
about:blank http://www.google.com and during periods of intense web development http://127.0.0.1/index.html Cya, NickBeee (shameless plug: get Mozilla it really rocks! http://www.mozilla.org) |

Those 'web design pages' go in my LINKS favourites that sits on my tool bar (they are much better idea I think). |

I made a quick page on my hard drive, with my favourites all neatly listed. So that once I boot up the browser, I'm one click away from my favs without having to wade through the Favs menu.
Going at a slight tangent, I found on my sisters laptop that there was a ActiveX control so that I could make a hyperlink that would execute a program, like Word. It was funky because I combined the Active Desktop with this, and created a realy useful tool. Bar the fact that Windows slowed to a crawl.... But the point is, my own laptop doesn't recognise this ActiveX control, so does anyone know if it can be installed? Garth Farley |
