song editing

i want to know if there are any programs where i can get an mp3 already on my computer, select a certain portion of the song, and still save it as an mp3.. if anyone can help i'd greatly appreciate it..

I had one software named "sound forge" by "sonic foundry". Had installed it just out of curiosity, but it was not of any use to me so I removed it soon. You may like to try it.
