DVD-ROM stopped burning
Hello! I have searched through here for the past week, looking for a way to fix my problem. My DVD-ROM stopped burning. I am running Windows XP on a Gateway computer. The burner is a Samsung(?). The driver details say something like "TSSTcorp H552B blah, blah, blah". I made a CD right before Christmas and it worked just fine. When I went to burn one about a week later, it just hung with the annoying hourglass for a few minutes, then it said to insert writable media. It will play CDs and I can install from the drive, but it no longer functions as a burner. I have triple checked the settings. The properties show the device is enabled. It shows another hardware device that has a recording option. It is WDC WD800BB-22JHAO. Device Manager shows no problem and doesn't list the WDC one with the TSST one. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. I have updated drivers and firmware. I have removed the panel and carefully removed what little dust there was. I installed and ran Registry Mechanic. When I followed instructions on the Microsoft Help(less) site, it just said to go into Regestry Editor and click on some things and change them. However, the keys that I am supposed to change (Value-GUID) aren't there. The computer is only around a year old. I'm thinking that it somehow got all mixed up in the registry and is no longer registered as a recordable device, but I haven't made any changes to cause that to happen. Does anyone know how I can resolve this? Thank you very much for your time.
BTW, I use Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.0.
