I want to run my own forum thingy on my website at portland. How do I add my own header and footer to the page like the one on this page?
Also what is the best one to download? phpBB Gold or phpBB RC-4?

hi Kinetic, welcome to the board.

ur 1st question:

it depends, there are 2 ways u may do that

1. if u're only gonna add HTML, then it's simpler (just look for overall_header.tpl and add whatever lines in HTML, there).
2. if u plan to use PHP, insert scripts (like banner rotation & counter scripts & others) and even includes, then it gets a wee bit more complicated, but easily done once u know how.

ur 2nd question; definitely go for the latest official release which is V2.0 if u're starting ur board fresh
