Re: SOund card? Which to get?

Obviously, if money is no object, you get the top of the line. Usually it's whatever the current Soundblaster is. However, it's probably better to ask yourself, "What do I want to do with it?".

If you only want to play games, then what sound system do you have? 5.1, 6.1, 7.1, THX, Dolby Digital, DTS, etc? You need to remember that the best sound card will sound like crap if you have cheap speakers.

Are you going to get into music making? Does it need to be compatible w/ Linux? Are you going to want special software (like video editing or MP3 encoding) to use with it? Are you going to watch movies with it? Does it use PCI or PCIexpress?

Just a few things to consider.
