Blue screen on startup

I opened up my computer today and I got a blue screen that flashed and restarted immediately.

Then I decided to install Windows again then I got this message:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration and check for any updated drives. run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption and then restart your computer.

Stop 0x00000024 (0x001902FA, 0xFA32B5FC, 0xF9BC84F)

Obviously I can't do what it told me because I can't even start up my computer!

Does this error message and continuious cycle mean that my hard disk drive is dead? that I need to get a new computer? or what?

I tried connecting the disk to a windows 2000 system as a slave but it won't boot up.

Any help?

Thanks for all answers.

Re: Blue screen on startup

Did you have a new hardware installed?

I have get this trouble a few months ago. I have fixed it. The reason is: I have a new hardware installed in my computer, but the driver for that hardware is not compatible to the OS.

Now what you need to do is:
Press F8 to go to the SafeMode screen and disable any new hardware you have installed.
If after you did, the problem is not fixed, try to go to CMOS and disable Bios catching.
Or you can do as the computer show you: Run a check disk program to fix any bad sector on your disk.

Re: Blue screen on startup

Got the same. Can't do sh*t about it. It's a new computer so I won't put the hard drive in my other computer, rather send it back to the store.

F8, Safe mode = same blue screen.
Repair @ Windows installation = blue screen.
Install Windows again = blue screen.

Re: Blue screen on startup

Yes, I really hope that reinstalling Windows XP works -- if not then I'll send the computer back to Dell and I'll ask for a new hard drive.
