Problems while burning CD's

I'm facing a few strange problems that seemed to have appeared from nowhere. When I burn CD's my computer becomes "jittery" (you need a better description don't you?). More elaborate description would be that my audio does not play smoothly while the disc-writing is on, the mouse pointer does not move smoothly and even the system performance goes down considerably
Are these problems unique only to me or does anyone else face these problesms as well? How can I remove these nuisances?
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Problems while burning CD's

Whenever you write a CD, the burner software utilizes considerable CPU memory.(In order to write the contents to the CD)

So the performance will be a little slower. Everyone faces this problem.
Dont worry.

After the burn process is over, the system will go back to normal state...

Regards,
Paramesh.

Thanks paramesh, but are there any work-arounds for it or do I need to put up with it (forever)?

Get a faster system? Seriously, the only way to fix it is to overclock your CPU or upgrade your mobo/CPU. Actually, now that I think about it, upgrading the drivers might fix it, but not totally guaranteed.

Netnut,

You can do a couple of things to upgrade the performance of your computer.

- Run anti-virus and anti-spyware programs to make sure you computer isn't infected.
- Review the applications you currently have installed and uninstall stuff you don't need. In particular, software that is always active, say in the form of a service.
- Upgrade drivers if they are available
- Defrag your hard drive
- Do a hardware upgrade. Look for cheap RAM or a used CPU if possible. Maybe buy a faster CD burner (so that your PC is being hogged for a smaller amount of time)

But the best advice would be to walk away from your PC when you are burning CDs. I too have learned to do it....

Yeah, I've done that found 2 trojans and nothing else, so what now? There are no useless programs installed that I should install. My hardware I feel is reasonably up-to-date as well (P4 2.6GHz-512MB-80GB-52x CD Writer). Any sugggestions?

Re: Problems while burning CD's

Here's one more problem that I found: when I copy CD's (audio/video/data whatever) onto my hard drive while playing music the audio becomes "jittery" although the song being played is on the hard drive. Now what?
So the problem persists not only while burning but also during copying- Is my CD dive using too much or too less of momory? Please help.

How much free space do you have on your HD partitions? If you are doing CD copying where a lot of data is being temporarily copied to the HD before being burned, I would suggest cleaning up the drive of unneeded files and defragmenting it.
