The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005)


Whenever I open an application of any kind (Internet Explorer, Norton, Nero, Media Player, etc) I get a error The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). I'm using someone computer right now and I really need help!
The only time the error doesn't appear is when I open Microsoft Word and Windows Explorer. I really need help.

I get the same message when I am closing certain apps. Are you using Win2K or XP?

Did you install service pack 2?
That may be the root of the problems.

Or:
Did the problem occur after installing a specific software?
if so, uninstall that software and check whether the error goes away.

Also, try running the software in Windows 2000 compatibility mode.
That may work!

I get the error in Win2K with WSFTP. I will post here if I find a fix.

It came with SP 2 and I think it was Norton Anti-Virus but I can't uninstall it for some reason, whenever I try, nothing happens.
