Exclamation

A message occur when i reboot.


When i reboot my computer,it said "passwords have been cleared set switch clear password to the open postition before rebooting"

What should i do?
How can i fix it?
Please help.

It sounds like the password jumper on the motherboard has been set to clear the BIOS password; that's the only password "switch" I can think of.

You should be able to just open your case and move/remove the jumper to fix the problem.

If you have the manual for the computer/motherboard, it should show you on the diagram where the jumper is located. If not, then you might be able to see it on the board itself.

Try looking near the bottom left, somewhere between the expansion card slots and the spot where the front panel (power button, HDD light, etc.) cables connect to the motherboard.

It might not be obvious, but if you look for a small jumper (two or three metal pins sticking up from the board) there should be writing next to it; something like "Passwd reset" or something that looks like "password".

There's a (not so good) picture at http://www.dewassoc.com/support/bios/bios_password.htm. You can also try removing the motherboard battery for a few minutes to see if it clears.
