Problems when using the computer

Hello friends,

When i use the computer for a long time, my eyes get irritated.
What is the solution for this?

Because if i go to a job, i would have to sit more hours than actually i do now.

Do you feel this irritation also?

Will it cause some eye problems like myopia etc?
I see a lot of software professionals wearing glasses.

For the time being, i have bought something called antiglare screen(but i dont know whether it is efficient or not).

Thank You,
Paramesh.

Sounds like you'd better find a new line of work. Baking cookies is fun.

Yes, many of us wear glasses. I got mine 10 years before I ever touched a computer, though...

I don't really have a solution for you. I'd check with an ophthalmologist and see what he has to say. It may be something simple. Like take a break every hour or so. Or close the windows so the smog doesn't get in.

Re: Problems when using the computer

Most people just recommend taking a break every few hours (which is also good to help keep your butt from exanding ) or just make sure you vary the distance your eyes are looking. Looking at a fixed distance for long periods can ruin your vision because your eye muscles essentially atrophy from lack of use; that's why you see pictures of watch makers squinting all the time. By simply looking away from the monitor out a window for a few minutes every hour can help you out.

I also remember reading in Discover magazine several years ago that you can go to an eye doctor and get fitted with special "computer" glasses. I think the glasses reduced the glare you normally received from the screen (which you've already done) and somehow reduce the strain your eyes take from looking at a screen for long hours.

I think you've already got a good idea w/ the anti-glare screen. All you need to do is just take a break every so often; not only will your eyes benefit, but you can burn a few calories by walking around and reduce the chance of getting carpal tunnel syndrome.
