Re: Views of Threads.Any page with the word "referer" or "referrer" in it is subject to a lot of bogus views. Pages with either word in it attract a lot of "referer spam".
You should see my .htaccess file now, it's so full of rules to block (or limit) these kinds of "attacks". |

Re: Views of Threads. Why does that happen?
Will it happen in this thread also? because you typed that words? If you have free time, please explain me about .htaccess files. Thank You, Paramesh. __________________

Re: Views of Threads. Why does it happen? Well, you can thank the search engines for that
Sometimes, when you visit a web site, you will notice a little table of links somewhere on the web page with a title like "Last Referrers" and a list of links to sites that have referred people to the site you're viewing. For example, go to girls-suck.net and you will notice a table like that towards the right, at the bottom of the page. In the past, it was interesting (and innocent) information to share with your readers (if you're the webmaster). Once the "dark side" figured out that it was the easiest way to get a link back to their site off a web page, it quickly became a nuisance and recently, a major pain-in-the-you-know-where. Nowadays, they probably have bots going through the search engine result pages for popular phrases including the word "referrers", they just add it all to a list and keep bombarding the web pages with fake referer URLs of sites they want to appear in these tables of links. Since it's usually all automated, they don't even care if the web page does not have a table of links that list the last referrers -which is what is happening here at GIDForums™. Since I don't list the sites that have referred readers to this site, I don't really have to block these fake "hits" but I thought why allow them to waste my bandwidth! Besides, I was also interested to learn how to block these idiots -- it might come in handy for a different situation in the future and so I did. And yes, this thread will be targeted as soon as it appears in the SERPs in the near future. About the .htaccess file, I won't post it here but I will be happy to send it to you privately. |
