Changing monitor in Windows XP

I bought a new hard drive and when I tried to change monitors I could not.
When I open the monitor window (it says "default monitor") the properties window is locked. It does not highlight. On my previous hard drive I had no problem changing the monitor (I had XP on that drive).

Re: Changing monitor in Windows XP

Try doing a "Detect Hardware". If that doesn't work, then consider manually adding the monitor. Your monitor may have come w/ a driver disk; if so, try installing it.
