Backup HD to other PC over router

How can i backup one computer to another computer thru a D-link router? I want a complete usable image.

If it crashes how would i recover the image?

Do i need some third party software?

I have partition commander, can i create an image and just move it to the other PC? Then after a crash, would i use partition commander to recover it?
