Gone Fishin'...Hello everyone...
Long ago I developed simple philosophies that have served me well over the years: [A] If one needs brain surgery, don't call a plumber. [b] If one goes fishing, one may or may not catch a fish...but if one does not go fishing, the odds of catching a fish are considerably reduced. So I'm going fishing, and whether or not I'll catch a fish remains to be seen. Here's the scoop: I'm trying to establish a hobby website; a 'virtual airline' for multi-player use with MS Flight Simulator. The domain/webhosting is already established, and the multiplayer software is installed. I can create the website in Front Page 2000, but I'm told this isn't the best approach, so I'm looking for a sharpie who has the time, knowledge, and willingness to build a killer website for this project. I realize that many of you are in this for the money, and I respect that, but there's no need to reply with a sales pitch; this is purely a hobby, and I'm looking for someone who is willing to do this for the publicity you'll get from front-page-billing on the website, and continued involvement if you wish. Just so you know: This won't be a complex, fragmented website, but there are some things that are simply over my head. Beginner-designers are more than welcome to give this a go, by the way; I'll work with you every step of the way. Best regards, Garry (garry@jetcoder.com) |

Re: Gone Fishin'...Hello and Welcome to GIDForums™ Garry. May your fishing trip be at the least enjoyable, at best successful.
Do you have a test site showing what you are attempting to do? If potential Helpers had something to look at you might improve your chances for a strike. Kind of a bucket of chum to attract attention. At the very least, "A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work." Good Luck, Mark __________________

Re: Gone Fishin'...Thanks Mark...
I don't have a "draft website", but I do have a basic spec that those interested can view: http://www.jetcoder.com/website.html Loved your little quote, by the way! Garry |

Re: Gone Fishin'...Hi Pawan...
Actually, most of the details are on the website I posted...you need to read it carefully because it explains the requirements quite thoroughly. Yes, there'll be a forum, but as I explained on that website, the forum is already done, installed on the new website, and working. No, I don't need lives stats; it's not that kind of game site. As for "will it be like that site".....no, I think the second paragraph explains what I'm looking for. As for features, they too are on that website...that's why I created that page. I'll be more than glad to answer any/all questions again here, if you like, but you'll find all these answers (and more) on that website (http://www.jetcoder.com/website.html) Thanks much for responding to my request... WaltP, The link that is appearing on this forum is only jetcoder.com! The actual link is www.jetcoder.com/website.html that i just saw in my email. Garry, I could design this website for you! But its only the design part! I haven't worked enough with the login/records/logs, etc. part! I will need a lotta graphics from you though! I have the basic idea in Mind! |

Re: Gone Fishin'...>>Interesting way to get hits on a commercial site for printer system.<<
Your evil thoughts are duly noted, Walt P., But now let me pop your bubble from several directions: [1] Those printers aren't for sale to the public, to you, or to anyone on this forum. Had you read a bit closer, you would have discovered they are continuous inkjet printers designed strictly for commercial applications, such as bottling/canning production lines. They don't print letters and documents and pictures, they print things like production-codes and "Sell Before" dates and UPC codes that you see on cans and bottles and packages. My customers are people like General Foods, Kimberly Clark, Pepsi, Coca Cola, and my printers cost in the neighborhood of $60,000 each (more, if you opt for a few bells and whistles)...do you honestly think I'd be trying to hustle $60-70K printers on a help-forum? [2] In your search for the "dark side", did you by any slim chance happen to note the logo for the proposed website; the picture of the cat? Well, guess what: The proposed website (LewisAire) is in honor of that cat, Lewis, whom I lost a while back. Best pal I ever had, raised him from a tiny baby no bigger than your thumb, and he was my whole life for 16 years...and then a radical vet killed my precious boy with drugs that were meant for horses. [3] Had you taken a few more minutes to poke around jetcoder.com (which you could have done easily, because the site isn't very secure at all) you would have discovered dozens of pages depicting the horrors I went through during Lewie's ailment, and right up to his death...these were estabilshed at a time when cat-folks all over the planet were trying desperately to help me save Lewie. In fact, feel free to have a look, if you wish: http://www.jetcoder.com/lewis.html So you see, Walt P., the business website is merely a place to park things like this, because I have no other websites or means to do it. And this endeavor...the proposed website for which I'm seeking help...is an effort to promote the memory of my Angel Lewie, not to sell printers to people who probably couldn't afford them or use them. As you can tell, I found your remarks offensive, but I don't want or need an apology. In lieu of that, my hopes are that you'll see this as a lesson to read more closely from now on, before automatically assuming evil in something so honorable as this. Have a wonderful day... Garry...and Angel Lewie |

Re: Gone Fishin'...Hello garry2005,
Yes, I am afraid that this is something new that I did recently, as recent as September 21, when I upgraded the forum script. Links only appear for Members: Level 2 and above. Anyway, as you can see, you have already promoted yourself to Level 2 and all your links on this thread are now active. I will have to update the FAQ someday soon and include details about this. |
