How do I report spam?

I get very few spam in my mailbox simply because I actively report them. I am almost obsessed by it; meaning I stop everything I am doing and report them first. So far so good...

However, just these past 4 weeks I have been getting spam from this 2 companies in Singapore that are just as relentless as me reporting them. Despite my numerous reports, they keep sending spam.

I usually report all spam I receive to spamcop.net at http://spamcop.net/ but what else can I do?

What I do if it comes from a freemail address is get the e-mail header and forward it with the original spam to the host at abuse@hotmail, abuse@yahoo.com, etc etc. Yahoo were very good to me even sending a personal response thanking me for doing everything correctly. Reporting it to an ISP is a good one too since they don't want to be blackmarked. You may have done some of these already, but maybe there's a newsgroup for it too.

In this time and age, you'd think there would be more tools like the one offered by spamcop.net.

It's easy, I don't have to do anything - just paste the email complete with headers and spamcop deciphers everything for you PLUS sends all the necessary spam reports, from the ISP to the hosting companies if a website is referenced in the email.

I was thinking there were more sites like spamcop. I want to avoid doing any 'leg work' if you know what I mean...

Congratulations on your 1000th post by the way JDS.

Have you tried http://www.abuse.net/ it sounds slightly more complicated than spamcop, but you'll just have to see what you think.

A very good link I just found is http://www.rawdc.org/web/spam.html there are loads of options available there as well as this ultimate link: http://spam.abuse.net/userhelp/

I recommend starting with the last link to be hones, it sounds like a worthy link to continually quote.

Learning without Luggage: Informatics Global Higher Education Creates the Best Innovative Platform for Executive Learners through Executive Virtual Campus

Reduced training budgets, travel restrictions, and explosive advances in technology make it harder than ever to stay on the high side of the learning curve. Combined with demands to do more in less time, your job today requires an innovative training solution that will save you time and money.

With many learning solutions choices in the market today, not only does a learner get to chooses one that presents time and money savings, one need to understand that every individual has a unique learning style that is suitable for certain medium of learning. Some students are visual learners;
some learn better when they "learn by doing." Web-based learning
environments therefore permit the instructor to build one course, yet implement a variety of resources, so students can utilize materials in whichever way works best for them.

|challenges an excellent platform to learn and| |
|network via both classroom and online mode.| |
|Administered by Purpletrain.com, the e-learning| |

|latest technologies like voice-over IP,| |
|multi-party collaboration and knowledge| |
|management to allow for fully interactive 'live'| |
|lectures to be conducted online. | |
|-------------------------------------------------+-----------------------|

Some prominent benefits of a real-time interactive online learning
environment:

Ø Enhancing student-to-student and faculty-to-student communication

1. Learners will experience a sense of equality as each individual has
the same opportunity to "speak up" by posting messages without typical
distractions such as seating arrangements, volume of student voices,
and gender biases
2. Learners share perspectives by combining new opinions with their own
and develop a solid foundation for learning
3. Instructors are more accessible as a learner can submit inquiry
anytime via email if one's learning schedule conflicts with office
hours or if a question arises at the spur of the moment
4. The lectures can be attended 'live', allowing you to ask questions
while the material is being presented.

Ø Enabling student-centered teaching approaches

1. Accommodate different learning styles: Presentation slides are put
online to benefit both visual and auditory learners. Someone else who
is a better visual learner will have more video. Others who are very
textual and verbal may learn best with case discussions via live or
online material. Emphasis will be placed on understanding concepts and
applying them, rather than making sure that learners are memorizing
facts.
2. Encourage additional rehearsal time: Additional benefits for those
who "learn by doing" occur when learners participate in online
discussions, as learners are exposed to an extra period of information
rehearsal. When lecturers post discussion questions in the online
portion of a course, learners must attend to and reflect on the subject
matter before responding. This engages learners in an active learning
experience

Ø Providing 24/7 accessibility to course materials

1. Continual access to materials: Busy learners can choose to download
readings and other online resources whenever it is most convenient
2. Remove reliance on physical attendance: Learners can work in groups
without the constraints of meeting together at a certain date, time,
and location for all classes

"The number one reason I prefer scheduled virtual classes is convenience," said Randy De Souza, a current part-time Mass Communications student. "I have deadlines to meet, and it would be lost time if I had to travel to a class. Now, I am able to log on for 'live' lectures, not missing a single class, "added Randy.

EVC offers interactivity not only through a blended learning solution with face to face contact and scheduled virtual classroom of online lectures, but also through discussion forums, real-time breakout rooms and student services, which will be made available. Currently, EVC is piloting in Singapore and Malaysia and will be commencing in China and Hong Kong.

The integration of web-based learning components bring added value to
traditional education. Lifelong Learners benefit from using the
communication and assessment tools with a customized approach to knowledge acquisition that suits learning styles and busy schedules. The advantages of EVC as a form of learning solution without 'luggage' make a significant impact in higher education today and, as technology evolves, promise to deliver even greater benefits in the future.

you can get it from http://mcd.perlmonk.org/pop3proxy/

and setting up a filter to check 'X-Spam-Flag: YES' will do the rest, for me the mail is placed in the 'SPAM' folder

Thanks for the links and the tips Allowee.

However, I would like to avoid going the 'blocking' route when dealing with spam.

I would prefer to report them. Evil, I know...
