Geo-targetting websites to create personalised information for the userI found this fairly ridiculous, but informational flash file here: Goselect demo , which explains how it can use its code to identify where you are connected to the internet from.
I currently have an idea for a future website that would be massively improved if it altered the data depending on where you connected to the internet. If you are interested in the things it can do then have a look at http://www.networldmap.com/TryIt.htm...= 62.3.102.46 I actually found a free redirect here from the same people as the flash file: http://www2.geobytes.com/GeoDirection.htm Does PHP have any special codes that could do this or a way I could get this information from an independent source? To a certain limited extent, I use GEO targeting on this website... with the ads, I mean.
There are a few IP to country databases around and there are even 2 that are free for anyone to use - (that reminds me, I have to update my IP to country database, there was an update just this week). __________________
