Trouble connecting to most of the internet

At first I thought it was my computer, but I've been trying to connect to many sites and I just am not getting anywhere. Is there some backbone down somewhere? My site and obviously this one are working. I can't get directory.google.com to work nor directory.yahoo.com, but I can get the www's. I cannot even get to http://www.internettrafficreport.com to check out what is going on, to see whether its on my isp's side or something else.

If anyone else is having problems then let me know.

Nope, I have not noticed anything out of the ordinary so far. I can even access internettrafficreport above.

Hello Goldfinger,

If I were you, I would first look at my HOSTS file. If on Windows, search for this file and open it up with Notepad to see what's inside.

If it has domains like Yahoo, Lycos etc inside it, then copy and paste the contents here.

Otherwise it may just be an ISP issue on your end...

AuroraHost is on a distinguished road
Sometimes spyware and adware etc. can make your browser only recoignize certain types or url's, and maybe it cant recoignize any URL's with a www. at the start. Try using Spybot Search & Destroy or Ad Aware to run a check, sometimes you can ahve spyware on your computer without even knowing it.

Good advice, AuroraHost, and I'm glad to see you refer to the anti-spyware tool by it's full name -- Spybot Search & Destroy. There is actually a malware program out now call "Spybot," undoubtedly trying to cash in on the name confusion (devious bas#$%^s !).
