Finally got (nearly) everything converted over to my new host (for the signature impaired, my site can be found at www.colonialmarinesrpg.com). I've revamped the entire site using Dreamweaver, so hopefully it looks consistent and everything works. I tried to keep the same look as my original site while accomodating the new CSS templates rather than the old table template.

I'm interested in how it looks to everyone. Here's some ideas of what I'm curious about:
  • Thoughts about the color scheme, the "logo" background and link colors.
  • Are there too many banners?
  • Are the Google ads too much?
  • Is it logically laid out and can you navigate it easily?
  • Do the breadcrumbs help you see where you are and where you've been?
  • Do I have enough links, i.e. do the pages need internal bookmarks to subsections?
  • Is there anything noticably missing or broken?
  • Does the default forum skin work for you?
If there's any other thoughts you have about it, please let me know. Thanks, I appreciate it.

Black on dark grey is hard to read. If you're going to keep white links, make the rest of the text light (say an off yellow) and visited links to yellow.

I like the idea of the logo background. Can is be made with a smooth gradient? That might look good too. Lighter letters, maybe a light green...

Ahh, the yellow on the other pages look good.

The left Google ads don't resize and obscure info in your first info column. About an 800 width. And the white background detracts. Center the ad and use your standard background color for your div

Go with a 2 column format instead of 3. Maybe even move the nav column to the rightmost column to be different. And keep the google ads together.
-OR-
Keep the 3 column format and put the ads only in the right column

You have no link back to the home page that I see.

Whoa!!! The example character sheet is too stark a change from the dark grey to the bright white background!

Enough for now.

Well, I've changed nearly everything Walt mentioned. I don't want to mess w/ the navbar yet; I haven't figured out how to do a massive template change.

I don't see the problem w/ the left side Google ads, though I modified the code. Somehow I got the right side ads to work, I think. Anyone having issues w/ the ads still?

Thanks for the replies.

Looks good. With the lighter text, that original dark background might look good now. Have you tried that?

I don't see any google ads at all, right nor left.

Actually, I never changed the background color; the only thing I changed was the text and link colors.

Not sure what's wrong w/ the ads. They were working last night. Eh, it's not like I'm counting on them as a source of income.

I got the public service announcement types when I looked at it. (you know the save the rainforest etc type)

Did you change the pagename or something along those lines. It was acting like there was no content to parse. I noticed this for the first few impressions at my site when I converted from .html to .php. After a bit it started serving ads again.

oops, I just checked again and it seems the ads are working now.

I like the changes you have made. The color choices make it much easier to read now. My only suggestion is the mouseover color (a:hover) in the Navigation links. The yellow with white background is very hard to read.

Personally I believe theres a lot that could be done for this website. First of all, the color scheme isn't that great, and the borderlines that meet the left menu and the content should be ontop of each other rather than 2 px thick. The banner could use some work as well. Most of all, choose more colors to fit your site.
