Problems With Column Display.Hello, I am having a few minor issues with my website. One is a problem for all browsers, the other seems to only be a Firefox issue. Here is the link to my website for those who wish to aid me.
http://pegasus.cc.ucf.edu/~ma241840/news.html And in case it is important, the site was built in Microsoft Word. The first problem is that even though all the pages of my site have the same height and width specifications for everything, as you will see if you click on the different pages, they don't seem to all exactly match up in terms of column width. I'm not sure how to solve this problem because I'm not quite sure what the problem is, but I want my site to have a consistent look, so if anyone can help me figure out what I can do to ensure that all the columns are sized properly, that would be great. The second problem is something that only occurs in Mozilla Firefox. That issue is that the vertical lines of the tables on some pages sometimes don't appear correctly or not at all. I don't know what could be causing this since it works fine in Internet Explorer, and there's no rhyme or reason to what goes on in Mozilla. All the pages are made the same way, and there's no consistency to when or where the lines appear, so I can't figure out where to look for the problem. This is really my major issue. If I could get this solved, it would be a monumental relief. If no one can help then I thank you for your time. If anyone can assist me, then I would be extremely grateful. |

Word is not a good HTML creator. You have little control over how Word creates a web page, and believe me the code is always an absolute mess. I checked yours and it's no different. You pages works in IE better than FireFox for obvious reasons. I'd recommend looking for an HTML editor. There are many free editors available. They will create much better code. I know this isn't a lot of help, but unfortunately only Microsoft can probably help in this case. They are the ones that did the translation. __________________

That's what I was afraid of. I did the pages in Word because while I know how to use other compilers, I wasn't looking forward to spending all that time writing code, so I was looking for an easier way. I guess this is what I get. So I should contact Microsoft with this problem or what?

The solution is to get a program designed for web design. It's not that hard when you have the right tool. __________________

Oh, believe me, I know how easy HTML can get. Like trying to crush a stone with bare hands. ;-)
At any rate, now that I realize that Word was not the best tool for this sort of thing (although in my defense, it was working pretty well despite those small issues), I am now trying to redo my site through Dreamweaver. Sucks, but if that's what has to be done, then I'm going to do it. |

I've coded in C, Java, and HTML. You may love it, but I hate it.
