HELP !!!!!! - Code 12 I've got a DELL laptop Latitude Cp ad i have a Toshiba cd-rom external drive. its Toshiba XM-1802B. its connected through COM1, and when i connected it, it didn't run. In the device manager theres: This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system. (Code 12)Pls Help me. Thx in advance |

Re: HELP !!!!!! - Code 12You might get it to work if you first use Device Manager to 'disable' any ports or built-in devices you don't need. Examples are internal dial-up modem (not required if you are on broadband), COM port #2, LPT1 Printer Port, Ethernet Adaptor (if you are using USB instead for broadband), and anything else listed in Device Manager which you don't use. Disabling them will free up resources for the external drive, but you should re-boot after disabling a device so that Windows re-configures the new resource pool.
