I just signed up (with the username of roly2002). According to http://www.tripod.lycos.co.uk/support/servicenews/ that feature was only installed yesterday! I set up a PHPInfo at http://members.tripod.co.uk/roly2002/phpinfo.php now i'm about to install PHP-Nuke.

Here are some restrictions...

Quote:
- Upload of files: For security reasons, the upload of files via a PHP script is not authorised.

- Ban on the direct connections: For security reasons, the fsockopen() function was deactivated.

- No persistent connections on your personal database: You can't be constantly connected to the MySQL's server !

- Maximum 8MB by script: For security reasons and to insure a constant service to all members, memory assigned to a script is limited to 8 Mb. It does not correspond to the size of your files but to the memory assigned to your script when one is executed. If your script exceeds this limit, an error will warn you during its execution.

- Option Trans-Sid Activated: Thanks to this option, the chain defining the session during the user's visit is sent automatically to all your scripts, without you having to do it yourself. It simplifies the management of user sessions for you.

- Activated secure mode: PHP is in a Safe Mode on the servers. Therefore we run a set of checks during the excecution of your scripts, which allows us to improve the security of your data. Thereby nobody can read your files or reach your database.

- Deactivated POSIX functions: All the POSIX functions (functions appropriate for the operating system Unix) are deactivated for security reasons.

- mail() function: This function should be used like describe in the PHP manual but to prevent spamming, mail() could send only 150 recipients by day (for example 1 mail to 150 recipients or 150 mails to 1 recipient) not more !
i think i'll install somethi' other than php-nuke, prehapes phpBB.

I forgot to mention .htaccess/Custom 404 pages are supported and that they have 50Megs (NOT 20 like Tripod.com). They are owned by the UK & Europe division of Lycos and Tripod.com is owned by the US division however anyone is free to signup.

conkermaniac is on a distinguished road
Honestly, I think they're offering too much and they will die off or end these features rather quickly...
