Please Review The New Website I Built and Tell Me What You Think.

I just built a website for the Rock Band Nostalgia. They wanted the majority of the site done in Flash and I think I achieved what they wanted. But I would like some feedback on the site outside of the people that would normally go there (ie people that don't go to their shows).

The URL is:
<snipped>

Any comments will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ryan

Hi Ryan,

Your flash animations are really great. Well done!

The bottom of your entry page, however, looks quite messy. Is the counter really necessary? Perhaps you could space out the text a bit more as well. Otherwise, the site looks very professional.

I am even more impressed with the rest of your website. That curling scrollbar is really impressive. I'm not sure I like the mouseover effect in the nav bar, though. I notice that when you hold your mouse over any one of the links, you hear "groovy, baby". It sounds quite messy. The images arranged haphazardly that scroll across the screen don't look quite right either.

You've got some great stuff in the Multimedia section. I especially like the keyboard simulation. The mouseover effects in the "Band" section (when you hold your cursor over the bodies of the band members) is also creative. I think that you really have used Flash to its potential, and I hope that you continue to work using this medium.

jrobbio will become famous soon enough
I have to agree with conkermaniac about the front page, but in addition could it not be possible to make the big nostalgia image of the dancing woman and the link clickable to go into the main site? Very neat idea to have a goodbye screen, there isn't many of them about so its a clever addition and memorable.

Its funny that with the curved scrolling bar is fantastic so much so that I was actually doing a curved arc with my mouse rather than just going up to down.

I have to go now but I'll say more later if you want.

Hey, yeah you've got Flash sussed. But the load times are pretty long, and me on a poor 56k, I'm left waiting quite a bit - not something I enjoy, seeing dots....

I've often seen, instead of loading...., bits of text poping up at intervals, saying what the site's about & so forth, try & pass the time. And I'd like an option to disable the sound, to save me time.

Also, you've the music cached, but not the text! That's the opposite of how I'd like it. And the Austin Powers cut isn't quite the era the Nostalgia group are going for, is it?

Scroller is good, some text, especially on the Mission page could do with a scroller & make the text bigger. Also, having the mouse over the "Steve" of Steve Lunn actually highlights Mark, kinda strange.

You've used Flash well, but it's slow at my end. I'd expect a no-flash version, for those who can't/don't want to wait. SEs ain't going to see anything. Also I don't like the cheapo counter, surely you can do better! And recomendations for my browser are a waste of space - I ain't gonna bother to change my setup to view any site!
