PHP editor for LinuxSince I have a lot more to learn about Linux, I still haven't completed ly set it up for web development like I have on my Windows Me machine.
Inspired by another thread here, I was just wondering, what good choices are there for a PHP Editor for Linux. Please do not send me to a web page with a list of them... I want to know from personal recommendations. __________________

I'm using Kate
I got KDE as window manager. btw you don't have to look very far if you want syntax highlighting. even the command line program 'mc' can color your files while editing. mc is almost the same a nc, norton commander, but mc runs on linux |

Kate is good (KDE only), but I find just a little too organised. I enjoy just a little chaos in my programming.
Xemacs is my usual programming editor, it has some quirks like backspace not doing what it always does on windows, but it's really customisable & fast. GF |

I don't do that.... I only program like chaos.... and then, when i'm almost done, I look at it and say to myself.. "what if other people look at the source..." and then I start re-writing the code. but quick and ugly code is almost the best. no comments, no extra stuff that will slow down... just very clean code |

I haven't downloaded 'Kate' yet but I found one (on the install disk of RH9) that was quite interesting... Quanta.
Do you have any experience with this? It looks good (infact better than anything I use on Windows myself) and I like that I can expand and collapse functions from view while coding. Does Kate have really useful stuff like that? __________________

now you are talking about it...
I also got that... it's a really good tool, i might start using it Kate, kwrite and i guess everything that is KDE based should have those function expand and collapse feature. but i only use it when i really need it. after a few hours using it's messing up everything and i need to re-start Kate |
