Save a file to a floppy on a SCO Unix machine

Im writing a C program that requires me to save a file to a floppy disk
The program runs on a SCO Unix platform. Does anyone have an idea?
From the command line to save a file on a floppy its: tar -cv6 filename.
Where c = copy file v=verbose 6 = floppy.
