Mastering Web languagesWell there are a lot of languages used on World Wide Web for scripting and programming. But I was wondering how many are those, any way, so I decided to post a new thread to confirm my knowledge about these languages. Here is my list:
1 -) HTML (of course the basic) 2 -) DHTML 3 -) Java 4 -) C (Sharp) 5 -) ASP 6 -) ASP.NET 7 -) Cold Fusion 8 -) PHP 9 -) JSP 10 -) Perl 11 -) WAP 12 -) XML 13 -) XHTML Any body has more info. If yes please share! |

How about Python, VB.NET, and Javascript? And I'm not sure if CSS and CGI count as languages, but they should probably also be considered.

PHP(Hypertext Preprocessor) is widely used nowadays. Do you know that Yahoo(Yet Another Hierarchial Officious Oracle) is programmed in PHP.

Re: Mastering Web languagesQuote:
I don't think that I'd list HTML or XML (or WAP) as either programming languages or scripting languages. The "Markup Languages" of HTML and XML, and even DHTML are definitely not, IMO, though would obviously find a place in a list of "common web technologies." I'd probably add JavaScript and VBScript to the list. It is strange not to see C and C++ included. There are not very many commercial/commecially viable (even if free) web servers and browsers out there that are not largely based in C and/or C++. You may also want to include SQL, since there are a lot of RDBMS-centric web sites going these days...but, it isn't exactly a programming language and it isn't exactly a scripting language, but it is definitely in wide-spread use in conjunction with web sites. Take Care. Rob! |
