C++ Lock-Up!

I dont know if anyone else gets this, but when i am working with C++ and compile a .cpp file that has errors(ie. i forgot a semicolon after a line) , the whole program will act wierd. The only option is "Stop Build" and after clicking it it doesnt do anything! C++ wont close unless the Stop Build is done, but it wont perform the "stop build". Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks

You should probably reinstall the compiler. Something seems messed up big time causing the system to be unstable.

that probably will help.... but i have another (possibly related) problem i think is causing this and other programs to mess up; my C:\Windows\system32 folder is missing . I think i was hacked once and somehow it was "erased", but then my computer wouldnt work at all if it was deleted yet it still runs normally except for a few programs.
Should i just do a repair job of Windows XP? I wonder if doing a repair will delete any of my current information...

Thanks for any insight you can give me

You may want to pose that part in the Computer Forums as you may get a better response there. At least for that part of the question.

Just a thought,

Mark

Based on this, I think you should backup all your personal data, program install files, and anything else you think you need of a non-Windows variety, and reinstall the OS.

It sounds like your system32 folder is just called something else, but it ain't normal. Wipe out time... maybe.

Don't do it just because I said so, though. Think hard and get a few other opinions.
