While building my linking campaign I've met such a wonderful announce in one of the letters.

"Website ratings are affect by the number of people
typing the web address. At one time, number of links to a website had value,
not anymore."

I'm sure "straight crossing" has some kind of value. Also it's good if your site is added to someone favourites. But I link building always stayed as a constant in everyday-changing rules, I can’t believe it has no value..

I am skeptical on how someone adding you to their favourites could have an impact on your search engine rankings. That information is not being passed on to the search engine. Google's toolbar *may* track this data but then again, its users are heavily skewed to the SEO/Webmaster community.

I still believe that links are important. They are part of a larger group of factors most search engines consider but links have another huge benefit - they get you non-search engine traffic.

I believe 100% That one of the most important factor about Top rankings on google and yahoo is links. (Inbound). And is proved.

Link popularity is still very important in doing well with your SEO.

also, what I've noticed is that incoming links that are on homepages seem to have a greater effect on se rankings as compared to internal pages

Link popularity has become more difficult to leverage, but it does still work.

As for issues such as using bookmarks - something planned for he Google browser.

Google is taking many factors into ranking sites these days. Read the Google patent file from 2003. One is if you bought your domain for 5 years you will rank better than if you bought for 1 year another is amount of people bookmarking your site another is amout of time a person stays on your site. Backlinks do still count for something and it is best to have higher pr site back link to your site. Then there is kwd.

I think it's not only links that's important, content also is a crucious part, some say meta tags are not as important as they were, they must be wrong.

My company has a website 2 yrs old & has a PR3 no link building!
One of my yahoo profile got a PR 3!!! & my other profiles PR0 is it traffic that got my profile that PR?

I hope link building has effect because I am trying to get ranked. I just lunched a new site on Friday of last week. I have about 580 inbound links showing up in on MSN. I have not seen it on google as of yet. Does anybody know with that quantity would I get ranked or do I need more?

Google has done a pretty good job of obfuscating what shows up as a back link and what doesn't. Some say its a random sample, but imo just get the best quality (high PR, low number of outbounds, related content) links.
