If you are eager to find out what your new pagerank is during the Google Dance and you have the toolbar available then use this neat little trick to find out early.
By placing a specific datacentre ip in the host, the toolbar no longer queries www.google.com, but instead the specified datacentre you have chosen.

1) First locate your hosts file for your OS.

Windows 95/98/Me - c:\windows\hosts

Windows NT/2000/XP Pro - c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Windows XP Home - c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Mac and Linux users - sorry toolbar only works with Windows and Internet explorer so you can't do this.

Warning back up your original working HOSTS file, mistakes do happen.

2) When the google dance has started find out, which datacentre/s have changed. A good place to look is http://dance.efactory.de/,

3) Place the following code into the HOST file

4) at this moment nothing has changed since the # on a line is ignored. The ones to check at this particular moment is FI and SJ. To use any particular datacentre just remove the # make sure there is only one open

5) It is not necessary to follow my example of having all the list in 3), but it saves a lot of time when changing from one datacentre to the other though it is entirely a personal choice.

On another note, don't forget to put the # on all the lines if you want to go back to normal, or just delete it all.
